Prodigal comes home
Home again in rags and broken
embraced within his father’s arms
from the dead, joy has awoken
fooled no more by Satan’s charms.
“I have sinned” the clear confession
“not worthy to be called thy son.”
I learned in the painful way the lesson
what a fool I was to run.
Make me as thy hired servant.”
I will work from dawn to dusk.
So his cry, sincere and fervent
he held himself with great disgust.
His father held him all the tighter
called for shoes and robes, the best;
and his heavy heart grew lighter
found sin’s forgiven when he confessed. -id
