Hand on Me

Unseen hand beneath, beside, before, behind
strong and steady, unafraid and kind
fingered to hold, to touch, to point the way
or with ease to make a world, or an Adam out of clay.
To lift the fallen, or wipe away a tear
to hold close, or back the thing that causes fear,
to guard or guide, to open up a door,
to motion that we sit
and then by grace to give us more

A Hand to bless upon my head
Lord, place thy Hand on me;
and by thy Hand may I be led,
may I thy servant be.
Thy Hand too on my shoulder felt
to comfort and to guide;
that Hand that helps and points the way,
the Hand that will provide.
The Hand of blessing, a mighty hand
that protects, defends His own;
the Hand that drew Salvation’s Plan,
that will greet me, “Welcome Home.” -id
