"Sometimes you feel like a nut"
At least that is what the Candy Company thinks, and in that case, they suggest Almond Joy. Then again (putting candy bars aside), there are times you actually may feel like a nut. Feelings are okay, but while they may ride the train and add excitement, they should never run it. Feelings are running rampant these days and emotions, like runaway steam engines, are jumping the tracks with attacks on everyone they deem “in their way.” This Cow-Catcher approach to life is less than desirable.
There was an age when feelings were the caboose, today they are the locomotive and its full steam ahead. Fear and anger are emotions, and a poor force to follow. Some people fear losing their advantage, position, or place at the table. Others are angry about their own failures, faults or weaknesses and are looking for the proverbial scapegoat.
When we Fear God, we need fear nothing else. The follower of Christ, follows Christ, knowing that God “has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love, and of a sound mind.” A sound mind, or in the case of the Gaderian demoniac, after trusting Christ, was sitting, clothed and in his right mind. Sin, you see, is insane. It is “nuts.” Fighting with God is crazy. Many thought the Prophets were “nuts,” but Isaiah was right on the money when he wrote, “to the law and the testimony, if they speak not according to this word [God’s Word], it is because there is no light in them.” The movers, the shakers, the media, and the magistrates are most often the “blind leading the blind.” It almost seems the whole world has gone mad. It has.
But don’t hate the haters. “Bless those who curse you, pray for those who despitefully use you.” The authorities put Jesus on a cross. That’s madness. They tried to kill the Truth. That’s insane. The world may ban me from Facebook. That’s okay. What’s really crazy is not “feeling like a nut”, but rather following one. If you don't follow Jesus, who is life, light, and love itself, you're crazy. -id
