Always try to be more clear than cleaver
and when you speak get to the point.
If to teach God's Word is your endeavor,
pray the Spirit your heart anoint

And may every word with salt He season
and guide the tongue that takes a text.
Caring not as much for rhyme as reason
expound one truth and then the next.

Try not to paint as much as polish
nor expand as much as expound
And handle with care lest ye demolish
in preaching, some truth you have found.
