Thy Kingdom Come

Blessed are the have-nots
blessed are the broken
blessed those the world forgot
of these the Lord has spoken
found in the Beatitudes
rushing to His kingdom
meek and humble attitudes
watch the Spirit bring them
Christ announced a Jubilee
where debtors find a pardon
those in prison are set free
the desert becomes a garden
blessed are the pure in heart
for they shall see the Father
peacemakers also have a part
with the persecuted and martyred
rejected by the powerful
who thought they knew the letter
but grace to sinners wonderful
found simple faith was better.
Some puzzle over what or where,
or when this kingdom starts
Jesus said, it is very near
