Jesus the Merciful
Jesus never raged against the darkness
                                              nor thundered o’r the blind
His light stands out in starkness
to the sinner he was kind.

                                              His harsh words reserved however
                                              for the self-righteous, religious crowd
for the teachers who thought them clever
“holier than thou,” the rich, the proud.

                                              for sin-sick the Great Physician
the water for all who thirst
He never trod on man’s volition
He, the only hope for the sin-cursed

  “Come unto me,” His invitation
to the tired of sin still stands
  “learn of me,” His education
out stretched still, His nail scared hands-id
