Learned in Distress (Ps.4:1)

I never learned on sunny days
what I learned on days it rained.
While every day is call for praise,
it’s from hardship most I gained.

No matter what the doubters say
there is blessing in the trial.
To trust in God the only way
to go with God the second mile

Not just sun, but in the storm
in the fallen broken seed
we often find that grace is born,
from that seed the fruit we need.

We seldom grow on days of ease
but when the billows roll,
what drove us to our very knees,
these things, enlarge our soul. -id
