Living the Word
Today I am like Abraham looking for a city
Tomorrow I may be Job-- whom all his friends shall pity.
When I read I cannot help but see myself inside
For in every living word -- the Spirit does abide
One day I am like Jonah, in the belly of the Whale
On another standing next to Paul -- as off to Rome we sail
Or barefoot by a burning bush or walking on the water
building this world’s pyramids with neither straw nor mortar.
When I read I see myself and find out where I am
as well as where I ought to be
what I ought to do, I can
I find manna in the wilderness
for strength I need each day
but greater far, much more than this
I find Christ to lead the way- id
