Won by One
Won by One
Surrounded by the enemy
Both Seen and unseen evil
Christ knelt there in Gethsemane
Closed in, the foe primeval
All Satanic forces massed
around the sacred city
The storm around him whirling fast
The prince of darkness giddy
Alone the Savior eyed the cup
Peered into its raging sea
beholding sin, and then looked up
Father, “take this cup from me.”
Yet not my will, but Thine be done
The Father’s will, not vague
There is one cure and only one
Christ’s blood could stop the plague.
Though sin still stalks as pathogen
And Satan’s swords still rattle
Jesus saves who trusts in him
On the cross Christ won the battle. -id
