On Loving God

If we love God and would call Him Friend,
we must love in truth and not pretend.
It is not enough to love in part,
We must love the LORD with all our heart.

True friendship in truth cannot be broken,
nor need fear what’s in thy heart to share.
Friends don’t betray what in faith was spoken,
for perfect love, it casts out fear.

This love by God’s Word does all things measure
and true love trusts and does not waver
it need fear nothing but God’s displeasure;
and desires nothing beyond God’s favor. -id
