Condemned
Condemned- beneath the gallows
rope swinging in the wind
once tender heart now fallow
clear to all he “Sinned”
but something must have happened
his heart began to melt
bravado began to slacken
a brokenness he felt.
He saw a shadow of the cross
it cut him to the quick
He saw his sinful soul was lost
He began to grieve, sin-sick
He felt the noose around his neck
The trap door gave a groan
suddenly order to “Stop” and “Check”
‘twas the Governor on the phone.
“Release him,” said the Warden
“Let the prisoner now go free.”
With one word there came a Pardon
So too when Jesus died for me. –id
