A Higher Form of Life

There is plant life, animal life, and of course, there is human life. There is the life of a daisy and there is the life of a dog. One is higher than the other. Human life, we are told in our science classes, is the highest. At least that is what Darwin taught us. I beg to differ. There is a higher form of life.

Two thousand years ago a little baby was born in a stable in Bethlehem. This one little life form, lying in a manger, was the highest form of life. There, wrapped in swaddling clothes, was God's Son. Although the Bible says he became a "little lower than the angels" he was the Highest.   Luke calls him the Son of the Highest. In the same chapter (one) the Holy Spirit is called the Power of the Highest and John the Baptist is called the prophet of the Highest. There, two thousand years ago the Highest came very low in order to raise us up higher.

He would not only change the world forever, he came to save the world for good.  Every day we read in the newspapers about people who have sunk so "low" that the average sinner shakes his head in unbelief.  But believe this: Jesus came into the world to save sinners and the Bible says we are "all" sinners.

"And the angel answered, and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." (Lk. 1:35).

"That Holy thing" is the highest form of life. "He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest." The babe in the manger was none other than God's own and only son. He came from the highest to save the lowest and lift them up to the plain of faith and a higher form of life. Those who place their faith in Christ are called "children of the Highest." (Lk. 6:36). It should humble us when we consider how low Christ went (even to the death of the cross) that we might enjoy a "higher form of life"
